Gaza: Sharp Shortage in Cooking Gas

Gaza, December 6, 2009 (Pal Telegraph) - Sawasiya ,human rights center in Gaza, has warned of Gazans difficult living conditions that would be aggravated if the Israeli occupation continued to block pumping cooking gas.

The center said, in a statement on Saturday, that the Israeli occupation prohibits pumping sufficient quantities of cooking gas into Gaza Strip had led many bakeries, factories and greenhouses to close down.

It added that they deliberately allow only minimum quantity of cooking gas in while misleading the world that it was supplying the Strip with its needs.

The Israeli occupation policy intends to humiliate the Palestinians and impose collective punishment on them. Also, with the winter approaching Gazans, demand on cooking gas is rising.

The center asked the international community and human rights centers to intervene to pressure on the Israeli occupation to allow pumping adequate quantities of cooking gas, and it called on Egypt to supply the Strip with all its needs of gas.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation has been imposing the siege on Gaza since 45 months and prohibiting providing it with its needs leaving 1.5 million suffering different crises.
