Egypt said that it will leave its border with the Gaza Strip opened indefinitely, after three years of opening every now and then.
After a deadly Israeli raid on a flotilla bound for Gaza, Egypt decided to open its border with Gaza to ease the movement of 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza including patients and students.
“Egypt is the one that broke the blockade,” Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki said. “We are not going to let the occupying power escape from its responsibilities.”
Egyptian sources reported that 4200 Gazan left and entered the Strip on the seven days of opening the border.
